GATIFLOXACIN IN BULK AND PHARMACEUTICAL DOSAGE FORMS

ABSTRACT

A simple, sensitive, precise, economical and reliable first and second derivative spectrophotometric method was developed for determination of gatifloxacin in bulk and Pharmaceutical dosage forms. The quantitative determination of the drug was carried out using the first derivative values measured at 276 nm and the second derivative values measured at 287 nm (n = 6). Calibration graphs constructed at their wavelength of determination were linear in the concentration range of 2.00–12.00 µg/mL for first and second derivative spectrophotometric method. A developed derivative Spectrophotometric method was validated in compliance with ICH guidelines and it has been successively applied to pharmaceutical formulation. Statistical analysis (Student’s t-test) was applied for obtained results, no significant difference was found between two developed method.
