ABSTRACT

Giant river catfish, Sperata seenghala (Sykes) collected from Harike wetland, Punjab (India) were studied for twenty nine morphometric characters. The study revealed that out of twenty seven characters analysed, sixteen are non-plastic or genetically controlled characters, seven are of intermediate type and the four are plastic or environmentally controlled characters. It has been observed that most of the characters showed linear relationship when scatter plots were drawn.
