ABSTRACT

Studies were under taken on Penicillium expansum KGSN 12 isolated from the soil sample using potato dextrose agar and olive oil used as a substrate to evaluate their ability to produce lipase. The lipase producers were detected by the formation clear zone around the colony by simple plate assay method. Studies were under taken on fifteen isolates of Penicillium expansum. The penicillium expansum KGSN12 showed the highest clear zone among the isolates. The maximum enzyme activity obtained was 4.861 IU under optimum condition of an incubation period 72 hr, pH 5.0 temperature 340°C and 1.0 mL inoculum size.
